For tourism geography, snow has become during the 20th century the prominent resource for the whole winter sports economy. From that moment, the lake of snow can be a serious problem for ski resorts. Fourwinters without snow (1931-32, 1963-64, 1988-89 and 2006-07) will be studied in this paper ; the analysis of newspapers will help us to understand the way in which these strange seasons have been then perceived, before any idea of global change and since the coming out of this invading preoccupation.
