Cap Blanc-Nez, cliff of Sangatte, Calais area : Geomorphological implications of Holocene coast line changes. Between Pleistocene and Present, the coast of North sea from Cape Blanc-Nez to Calais has turned from a WNW-ESE course to a WSW-ENE direction. The paper recalls the former and recent studies about this evolution, arguing on the basis of former coastal bars and of peat outcroppings in Calais plain. Three stages may be characterized : the fossil cliff of Sangatte is reported to middle Pleistocene. The Holocene bars of sand and pebbles mark a forwarding movement of coast to North in the Atlantic age.
