Alloclasite-cobaltite association was found in a mineralized vein at Lautaret (Hautes-Alpes). Alloclasite, orthorhombic, is often changed into cobaltite, cubic, which has the same composition, Co₀.₈₃Fe₀.₁₀Ni₀.₀₇AsS (determined by electronprobe microanalysis). Synthesis in the system CoAs₂-CoS₂ show that alloclasite is a stable phase in this system, and that the structural change into cobaltite occurred when the ratio S /As is very slighty increased in the mineral.
