This article seeks to expose the state, as of February 28th, 2018, of the negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom on the exit of the latter (the process being called “ Brexit”, in reference to the British exit). After briefly tracing its legal and political background, the general principles determined by the European Union (and accepted by the United Kingdom) for the negotiation of Brexit will be presented. Then, the article presents the main elements of the tentative agreement concluded by the United Kingdom and the European Union in December 2017, on the fundamental aspects related to an “ orderly withdrawal” of the United Kingdom.
