Performance in stressful situations within the framework of military conflict in Eastern Ukraine

The aim of this master’s work was the research of general stressful situations for the population of Ukraine. In order to achieve this aim, the following tasks were solved: Identify the groups of regions of Ukraine that would best reflect the general views of the population; Determine the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of respondents; Analyse public responses to stressful situations between different regions of Ukraine. The dynamics of variations in the population's reactions to the effects of several stressful situations in Ukraine were the objects of the study. The data of sociological studies were provided by the National Bank of Sociological Data “Kyiv Archive”. The obtained data were undergone in statistical processing by the method of descriptive statistics. IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 software were used for this analysis. Further investigation with the construction of graphs for the results was held in Microsoft Excel 2016. In order to build a map of Ukraine with the defined groups, the ArcGIS program was used. Thus, it was identified the five groups of regions of Ukraine. They had a different background for examining specific stressful situations to a particular region. Further, six age groups of respondents and their gender structure were determined. There was the largest increase in the loss of financial resources in the group of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. It was obtained the highest rate in the same region within a situation where people remained forcedly unemployed. There were also high levels of several psychosocial stressors: loss of self-confidence, conflicts with others, level of happiness. The group of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions had the highest death rate of their loved ones in 2016. The same group was determined as the leader in some economic problems (to remain without means of subsistence) and psychosocial issues (loss of faith in people). The capital experienced its ups and downs in almost every issue. But it is such a characteristic of this city that the rapid recovery from such stressful situations is common.
