Conventional farming currently treats a field uniformly, ignoring the naturally inherent variability of soil and crop conditions between and within fields. Precision agriculture is technology enabled, and has provided tools for determining field variability and adjusting inputs to locally optimised values. Apparent soil electrical conductivity has become one of the most reliable and frequently used measurements to characterize field variability for application to precision agricul-tore due to its ease of measurement and reliability. Electrical resistivity is a measure of how wongly a material opposes the flow of electrical current. Electrical conductivity EC is a measure of a materials ability to conduct an electric current. EC is a complex measurement influenced by several soil properties: salinity, texture, water content, bulk density, organic matter and temperature. The development of mobile EC measurement equipment (Veris Technologies Inc.; Salina,KS, USA) has made it possible to produce EC maps with measurements taken every few meters. The machine Veris 3150 MSP used in the study included a soil resistivity/conductivity meter.
