The expression of school culture

Introduction. Post-modern society devotes considerable attention not only to culture of individuals and groups but also to that of organisations. Namely the culture of organisation predetermines active engagement of its members, their meaningful activities, success and satisfaction, that is, a strong sense of identity. A clearer understanding is formed in society that success of activities depends on organisational culture. The heads of organisations and, more and more frequently, employees tend to focus on communication and collaboration as a prerequisite for attainment of good results and increase in competitiveness. In this context a particular importance is ascribed to the culture of educational organisations and research on it. The principal and communities of each school are concerned about formation, development and improvement of their school’s culture. The quality of activities in general education schools have been assessed at national level in Lithuania. The data of such assessment reflect the situation of school culture and reveal the variation in its expression. This enables not only to identify and define the expression of school culture but also to evaluate the general level of a particular sphere of school activities in general education schools.
