This article provides the results of empirical research on Lithuania’s university employees’ job satisfaction. Analysis is constructed around Herzberg’s motivation theory and, accordingly, significance of motivator and hygiene factors is measured through employee perceptions of extrinsic and intrinsic job characteristics. Distinctions between different employee groups, namely academic and administrative staff as well as supervisor and subordinate positions are explored and both motivational gaps and overlaps are unfolded.
