The influence of density of black alder seedlings to the growth dynamics

In Lithuania there are around 0.61 million ha of land that is unfavorable for agriculture though it can be forested or planted. Acording to the data of Lithuanian Republic land fund (Janua-ry 1, 2009), the fund of unused land is 147 470 ha. An excessive amount of unused agricultural land is particularly found in the districts of Utena (21 856 ha), Vilnius (20 443 ha), Panevezys (11 031 ha) and Siauliai (10 380 ha). According to the newly approved regulations of forest re-newal and cultivation, Black alder can be grown in the new plantations. In the tree nursery of Jo-nava forests enterprise grows 2 year old seedlings of Black alder, which were planted in different density for test purposes. In this research an assessment of the seedlings growth parameters was pursued.
