The Indian people migrated in waves to the United Kingdom: this article seeks to describe these migration waves, their direction, and the Indian diaspora in the United Kingdom, one of the largest such diasporas in the world today. In contrast to others, ethnically Indian communities began to be markedly affected by migration processes just two hundred years ago, although ephemeral contacts and the movement of peoples in southeastern Asia have been observed since the beginning of our era.
