Analysis of brain hemisphere domination using encephalography

Magistrinio darbo metu tirti žmogaus smegenų kairiojo ir dešiniojo pusrutulio skirtumai. Kairysis žmogaus smegenų pusrutulis atsakingas už loginį mąstymą, dešinysis ̶ už erdvinį. Darbo metu norėta nustatyti ar išsiskiria laikiniai skirtumai tiriamiesiems atliekant loginę ir erdvinę užduotis kaire ar dešine ranka Eksperimentų metu pasirinkti 23 studentai, kurių amžius 20-23 metai. Visi jie buvo dešiniarankiai. Eksperimento dalyviams duota atlikti loginę ir erdvinę užduotis, kurių metu jie turėjo reaguoti į pateiktas užduotis, priklausomai nuo užduoties pajudindami kompiuterinę pelę kairėn arba dešinėn. Viso pateikti 32 loginiai ir 32 erdviniai uždaviniai kairiajam ir dešiniajam pusrutuliams. Tyrimo metu buvo taip pat buvo registruojama EEG. Taikant įvairius analizės metodus Matlab programa gauta suminė EEG. Tiriant dešinįjį ir kairįjį smegenų pusrutulius, išsiskyrė greičiausias rezultatas atliekant loginę užduotį dešiniąja ranka, kai vaizdas rodomas dešiniajame regos lauke. Išsiskyrė 0,019 s laiko skirtumas. Ir atliekant erdvinę užduotį kairiąja ranka ir vaizdą rodant kairiajame regos lauke, išsiskyrė 0,09 s skirtumas. Darbo metu išskirtos ERP bangos, kurios parodė, kad tarp visų tiriamųjų asmenų vieningos koreliacijos nėra, tačiau koreliacija tarp kiekvieno indvidualaus tiriamojo dešiniojo ir kairiojo pusrutulio išsiskyrė.In this master’s thesis, the differences between the left and right hemispheres of the human brain were analysed. The left hemisphere is responsible for logical thinking, the right – for spatial. The aim of this analysis was to determine whether the 10ms difference exists in the logical and spatial tasks performed by the subjects. During the experiments, 23 right-handed students, aged 20-23 years, were selected. Participants of the experiment were given logical and spatial tasks during which they had to answer questions. The total EEG was measured during the analysis. This study also includes the analysis of EEG history, its adaptation. This analysis was done using a polygraph for medical educational purposes, while also utilizing the Matlab software, which was helpful in developing analytical interpretations for EEG signals. The quickest results while analysing the right and left hemispheres were obtained by performing a logical task with the right hand when the image was shown to the right field of vision, with a time difference of 0.019 s. During the spatial task, done by the left hand and the image shown to the left field of vision, there was a time difference of 0.09 s. During the analysis, ERP waves were amplified, which showed that there was no unified correlation among all subjects of the experiment, however the correlation between each subject’s right and left hemispheres examined was identified
