The vocabulary of the students of the Polish schools in Vilnius

In the circumstances of vibrant multilingualism the lexis of the different languages functions on the complimentary basis, i. e. only partially covering one another. Different situational categories can be distinguished as well as the topic areas where the dominance of one of the languages is evident. The material presented in the article discloses that in the Polish speech of the students attending polish schools there are gaps in the knowledge of the general vocabulary in such topic areas as health, shopping, services and communication. These gaps are filled in which quotations, word borrowings, copies of the Russian and Lithuanian language structure and semantics.
