The support provided by world lithuanians while restoring the Lithuanian state

The article describes the aspects of the world Lithuanian organizations and communities’ support in 1989- 1999 for the restored Lithuanian state. The gathered material illustrates the Lithuanian emigrants’ political, financial, humanitarian, scientific, medical support, aid for the army, schools, and universities, by investments, training, etc. It poured from different countries to Lithuania after many years of occupation. There are given fields of activities which received the help, the structured forms of this support and shown the peculiarities of activities from the communities in different countries. This support acted as a stimulus to create public structures and organizations of a new model and formed an initial basis for new activities. The time and concentrated experience both in Lithuania and among the Lithuanians abroad showed that there was needed coordination of communication.
