A few episodes from the life of musicians in the 18th century as represented in the cases of Vilnius powiat castle court

The article offers three episodes from the life of Vilnius musicians in the 18th century. There is little information on musicians in nobility related cases of Vilnius powiat, in fact, only several facts were traced which suggests that the intersection of musicians' and noblemen's interests in Vilnius were rather rare. The first situation was a violent conflict between Kazimieras Gembicius (Kazimierz Gębicz), the Kapellmeister of Vilnius Franciscan Church, and his musicians and Jesuits from Vilnius Academy and the Domus Professa Vilnensis at St. Casimir's Church and their students from musicians' bursa which took place in 1722. The reason underlying the abovementioned conflict was competition for orders. Another situation was a violence and robbery related case between Vilnius citizen Motiejus Kvacinskis Jarosevicius (Maciej Kwaczyriski Jaroszewicz) and students of musicians' bursa at Domus Professa Vilnensis at St. Casimir's Church heard in the same year. And the third situation was a complaint against Romualdas Ratovskis (Romuald Ratowski), Rittmeister of Breslaw powiat and standard-bearer of hussar flag, and his musicians submitted by the Trinitarians of Antakalnis in 1786.
