Some evidence suggests that a variety of genetic factors contributed in pathogenesis of the hypertension and pregnancy preeclampsia. Maternal hypertension is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, including preterm birth and low birth weight. Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) is a key factor in renin-angiotensin-aldosterone hormonal system, which is an important factor in development of hypertension.
