Residual effect of organic mulches on soil biological properties

Experiment was carried out in the Pomological Garden of Aleksandras Stulginskis University in 2012. The influence of different organic mulches and different thickness of mulch layer on agrocenosis was investigated in 2004–2009. The residual effect of organic mulches and different thickness of mulch layer was investigated in 2010–2012. The residual effect of organic mulches and different thickness of mulch layer on number and mass of earthworms was not significant. The bigger number and mass of earthworms has been noticed in the fields previously mulched with sawdust. The residual effect of mulch layer on the activity of urease and saccharase was significant on the third year of investigations of residual effect.
