Avaliação dos efeitos da mata ciliar sobres os fluxos hidrogeoquímicos em área de pastagem: caso das bacias hidrográficas dos igarapés do Sete e Pajeú - Paragominas (PA)

It was studied the waters of uncofined aquifer and of portions of superficial drainage in the wartersheds of the Sete and the Pajeú rivers, in the municipal district of Paragominas, in the northeast of Pará. With total areas of around 150 and 45 Km2, respectively, those basins are mainly occupied by cattle areas. They are inserted in the sedimentary basin of Grajaú, occurring from the base to the top the Itapecuru formation, Ipixuna formation, Debris-Lateritic Paleogenic covering, Pleistocenic Sedimentary Covering and Alluvial Deposits. The chemistry of the water was evaluated in pasture areas, with and without preservation of the riparian forest that, although protected by law, is usually removed for several land uses. The waters of 9 monitoring wells were studied, installed in uncofined aquifer, and of 13 portions of superficial drainage placed in pasture areas and in riparian forest. The evaluated aquifer is constituted by sediments of the Ipixuna Formation, with kaolinite sandstones and mudstone kaulinic. Eight sampling campaigns were accomplished, during the dry and rainy periods in 2005. It was determined the contents of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, ammonium, sulfate, phosphate, bicarbonate and chloride, and in the Field pH, electrical conductivity, and temperature. In the waters of superficial drainage, the results indicate significant leaching of soils, evidenced by the higher the contents of nutrients. In the waters of superficial drainage concentrations of sulfate, potassium, magnesium and chloride were higher in the pasture areas. On the other hand, the contents of ammonium, nitrate, phosphate, calcium, sodium and bicarbonate were, in most case higher in an area of riparian forest, in which the main source of nutrients for the waters is the organic matter of the soil. I pastures these elements come from the either the limestone or the fertilizers used for pH correction and increasing of the soil fertility. Another source comes from the contribution of ashes, resulting from burning used to convert the original vegetation in pasture. In the freatic water, the contents of the cations and anions evaluated were, in general, higher in the pasture areas, except for the concentrations of sodium and chloride that were larger in the wells in riparian forest. Among the constituents analyzed, stood out, mainly, the concentrations of ammonium and bicarbonate, whose maximum values obtained in wells in riparian forest and pasture were, respectively, 0,81 and 17,6 mg.L-1 (ammonium) and 15,98 and 109,78 mg.L-1 (bicarbonate). When compared to the water of superficial drainage, it was verified that in the freatic waters most of the substances showed an increase in their contents in pasture areas. That 4 result is attributed to the fixation of nutrients by the riparian forest when the percolating water crosses the insaturated zone, while in the pastures the nutrients can reach the water table, once in those areas a significant retention of those substances does not happen. Most of the cations and anions analyzed showed higher concentrations in the wells of the point ST6, in the Sete river, where the area is of pasture and without riparian forest. The ions with higher contents were nitrate, ammonium and bicarbonate obtained in the dry period. For the alkalinity, pH and CE values were higher in pasture areas in the freatic waters. On the other hand, in the waters of superficial drainage, except for the pH, those parameters showed the highest values in the areas of riparian forest. Acid waters prevailed with pH between 5 and 6, although values close and even superior to 7 were obtained, attributed to the limestone used in the area and to the ashes, rich in bases, coming from the burning. In relation to the temperature, it was verified that it reflects the local average, 26,33oC. In the Pajeú watershed, the cation and anion contents were, in general, higher during the rainy period, while in the point ST6 in the basin of the Sete there was a relative increase in the contents of most of the ions analyzed during the dry period, due to the lowering of the water table and the low recharge of the aquifer. In the areas with riparian forest that effect was neglectable due to the small variations in the hydrological conditions along the year, resulting into a smaller annual variation in the depth of the water table.CNPq - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoForam estudadas águas de aqüífero freático e de parcelas de escoamento superficial nas microbacias hidrográficas dos igarapés do Sete e do Pajeú, no município de Paragominas, no nordeste paraense. Com áreas totais em torno de 150 e 45 Km2, respectivamente, essas bacias são ocupadas principalmente pela pecuária. Inserem-se na bacia sedimentar do Grajaú, ocorrendo da base para o topo a Formação Itapecuru, Ipixuna, Cobertura Detrito-Laterítica Paleogênica, Cobertura Sedimentar Pleistocênica e Depósitos Aluviais. Avaliou-se o quimismo da água em áreas de pasto, com e sem preservação da mata ciliar que, mesmo estando protegida por lei, é normalmente retirada para os diversos usos do solo. Foram estudadas águas de 9 poços de monitoramento, instalados em aqüífero freático, e de 13 parcelas de escoamento superficial situados em áreas de pasto e de mata ciliar. O aqüífero avaliado é constituído por sedimentos da Formação Ipixuna, com arenitos caulinizados e argilitos cauliníticos. Foram realizadas 8 campanhas de amostragem, durante os períodos seco e chuvoso de 2005, analisando-se os teores de sódio, potássio, cálcio, magnésio, nitrato, amônio, sulfato, fosfato, bicarbonato e cloreto, além dos parâmetros analisados in situ, pH, condutividade elétrica, e temperatura. Nas águas de escoamento superficial, os resultados indicam uma significativa lixiviação do solo, evidenciada pela elevação dos teores de nutrientes. Nas águas de escoamento superficial as concentrações de sulfato, potássio, magnésio e cloreto se mostraram um pouco maiores nas áreas de pastagem. Por outro lado, os teores de amônio, nitrato, fosfato, cálcio, sódio e bicarbonato foram, em sua maioria, sensivelmente mais elevados em área de mata ciliar. Nesta, a principal fonte de nutrientes para as águas é a matéria orgânica do solo enquanto que nas pastagens provêm do calcário e dos fertilizantes aplicados para correção do pH e aumento da fertilidade do solo, havendo ainda a contribuição das cinzas, resultantes das queimadas para converter a vegetação original em pasto. Na água freática, os teores dos cátions e ânions avaliados se mostraram, de um modo geral, mais elevados em áreas de pasto, com exceção das concentrações de sódio e cloreto que foram maiores nos poços em área de mata ciliar. Entre os constituintes analisados destacaram-se, principalmente, as concentrações de amônio e bicarbonato, cujos valores máximos obtidos em poços em mata ciliar e pasto foram, respectivamente, de 0,81 e 17,6 mg.L-1 (amônio), 15,98 e 109,78 mg.L-1 (bicarbonato). Quando comparadas à água de escoamento superficial, verificou-se que nas águas freáticas a maioria das substâncias apresentou um aumento de seus 2 teores em áreas de pasto. Atribui-se esse resultado à fixação de nutrientes pela vegetação ciliar quando a água infiltrada atravessa a zona insaturada, enquanto que nas pastagens os nutrientes podem ser carreados nas águas de infiltração, atingindo o nível freático, uma vez que nessas áreas não ocorre uma retenção significativa dessas substâncias. A maioria dos cátions e ânions analisados apresentaram-se mais elevados nos poços do ponto ST6, no igarapé do Sete, onde a área é de pasto e sem faixa de mata ciliar preservada. Os íons com teores mais elevados foram o nitrato, amônio e bicarbonato obtidos no período seco. Quanto à alcalinidade, o pH e a CE foram obtidos valores mais elevados em áreas de pastagem nas águas freáticas; por outro lado, nas águas de escoamento superficial, com exceção do pH, esses parâmetros mostraram os valores mais altos nas áreas de mata ciliar. Predominaram águas ácidas com pH entre 5 e 6, embora tenham sido obtidos valores próximos e até superiores a 7, atribuídos à utilização de calcário na área e às cinzas, ricas em base, provenientes das queimadas. No que concerne à temperatura, foi verificado que a mesma reflete a média local, de 26,33º C. Na microbacia do Pajeú, os teores de cátions e ânions apresentaram-se, em geral, mais elevados durante o período chuvoso, enquanto que no ponto ST6 na bacia do Sete houve um aumento relativo nos teores da maioria dos íons analisados durante o período seco, em decorrência do rebaixamento do nível freático e da baixa recarga do aqüífero. Nas áreas com vegetação ciliar esse efeito se mostrou negligenciável devido às pequenas variações nas condições hidrológicas ao longo do ano, resultando em uma menor variação anual na profundidade do nível freático
