The article presents an analysis of a series of 38 archival photographs from the collections of the National Library in Warsaw. The photos were taken during a several-day tour to the Spišské Tatras. The route went through the highest peak in Poland Rysy and Zawrat Pass to Zakopane. Some photos were taken on the estate of doctor Tytus Chałubiński. In the 1870s Dr Chałubiński initiated collective high mountaineering tours in the Tatras, accompanied by numerous highlander guides, and even a band. One of such tours, organized most likely in July or August of 1886, was photographically documented. Also a garden party given by Dr Chałubiński in Zakopane was captured on photographs.
