Literature pays a lot of attention to the factors inciting MPs to invest in their district. It highlights the importance of district work to gather information from constituents but also for securing reelection. However, despite this interest, only few studies focus on concrete district work. By mobilizing ethnographic data (observations of MPs during their stays in their district) and in-depth interviews, the paper aims to investigate the role of party membership and ideology in MPs response to the necessity of assuring a proximity with citizens and social groups.
