The article deals with the linguistic means of word-formation and lexico-semantic levels, which form the basis of language games and contribute to the implementation of destructive speech strategies in the media. The necessity to study this topic is caused by the ability of the media to have a manipulative impact on a wide audience, to form public behav-ior, to create the desired attitude of addressee to an object/event. Manipulative effect is understood as the presence of lin-guistic means of influence and the use of their peculiar features in accordance with the latent purpose of the speaker (the author).
