This paper presents an overview on the risk assessment approaches for inundation of metro systems based on regional flood risk assessment methods. Detailed summarization is conducted based on four types of regional flood risk assessment methods, including (i) statistical methods, (ii) multi-criteria analysis, (iii) analysis using geographical information system (GIS) and/or remote sensing (RS), and (iv) scenario-based analysis. After reviewing of the existing methods in literatures, a perspective approach of evaluating inundation risk for metro systems is proposed.
