PENDIDIKAN PESANTREN DALAM MEMEBENTUK KARAKTER SANTRI DI PONDOK PESANTREN MUHAMMADIYAH AL MUNAAWAROH MALANG

Character education is a system that instills students' character values, which contain components of knowledge, individual awareness, determination and willingness and actions to carry out values, both towards God, self, fellow human beings, the environment, and the nation, so that will be realized by our people. This research is motivated by a field fact that shows that there has been a decline in the moral quality of the Indonesian nation which is characterized by rampant crime rates, conflicts, and a decline in work ethic. Muhammadiyah AlMunawwaroh Islamic boarding school as non-formal education becomes a very effective institution to develop the values of santri characters. The purpose of this study is to find out how the process of character education in Islamic boarding schools. This research is a type of field research with a qualitative approach, which uses a data collection tool with interviews, observations, documentation to obtain data which is then processed and analyzed until a conclusion is reached. From the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the Muhammadiyah Islamic boarding school Al Munawwaroh has implemented character education well holistically and lasts for 24 hours. As for the character values instilled through teaching and learning activities, the guidance of reading al-Qur'an, giving role models (good deeds), activities, guidance on worship procedures, reprimanding students. this can be seen from the attitudes and behavior of devout santri, worship of clerics, clerics, administrators, have a suave attitude, gentle, polite, polite, honest, responsibility, tolerance, independent, love of knowledge, discipline, love to help, creative and hard work
