International audienceThin coatings are seen as effective fire resistant approaches to fire-proof combustible substrates, and have been attracting great attention since several decades. In fire science, it is acknowledged that infrared radiation contributes largely to heat transfer in medium to large scale fire. Therefore, systems which can effectively suppress radiative heat transfer are of great interest as passive fire protective solutions for materials.
