Among the most desired functionalities are surface colouring and blackening, anti-icing, anti-biofouling, wear reduction and anti-reflectivity. Laser surface processing holds a virtually endless potential in surface functionalization since it can generate versatile surface properties by modifying surface morphology and chemistry.
