It is known that pentanucleotide repeat polymorphism, consisting of varying number of (TTTTA) repeats in a promoter, is associated with plasma lipoprotein(a) levels. G/A -914 base substitution has also been correlated with pentanucleotide repeat polymorphism in individuals with high and low lipoprotein(a) levels.
