Intelligent connected objects, which build the IoT, are electronic devices usually supplied by batteries that significantly limit their life-time. These devices are expected to be deployed in very large numbers, and manual replacement of their batteries will severely restrict their large-scale or wide-area deployments. Therefore energy efficiency is of the utmost importance in the design of these devices.
