Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) was successfully completed fore the first time in 1953 by DeBakey and, despite advanced in endovascular therapy and medical treatment, it remains on of the most frequently performed vascular surgical procedures worldwide. The ain of CEA is to prevent a potential stroke event, by reducing the risk of distal embolization from the plaque or the thrombosis of the norrowed lumen.
