The Senigallia Urban Archaeological Project was started in 2010 by an agreement between the University of Bologna (Department of History and Culture, Section of Archaeology), the Municipality of Senigallia and the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici delle Marche, with the aim to study the first colonia civium romanorum on the Adriatic Sea: Sena Gallica (founded in 283 B.C.). The recent excavations are providing new and important data about the ancient urban planning and, in particular, the private building. In fact, the archaeological data allow to recognize the existence of houses with production functions, as well as of domus reserved to the colonial ruling class and its ideological needs
