Background: Recently, a genome-wide analysis using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) microarrays, identified genetic alterations targeting PAX5 in over 30% of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia cases (Mullighan et al. Nature 2008). However, the occurrence of PAX5 alterations has not been investigated in adult BCR-ABL1-positive ALL.
