Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is overexpressed in psoriatic synovium and skin plaques and its selective inhibition by anti-TNF-α agents has been demonstrated to reduce TNF-α levels in the articular environment, reversing the synovial hyperproliferative phenotype.
