OBJECTIVES: Breast cancer (BC) in the elderly population is by far the most frequent malignancy in Western countries; however, little evidence is available regarding the specific management of this group. The purpose of this study was to identify how the biological and clinical characteristics of cancer have changed over the past 20years by comparing two groups of elderly patients with breast cancer operated on 20years apart.
