Nuovo catalogo dei manoscritti ebraici della Biblioteca Universitaria di Bologna

New catalog of the collection of Hebrew manuscripts preserved in the University Library of Bologna (BUB). It had already been cataloged in 1889 by Leonello Modona, a Jew of Cento, who became librarian at the BUB. But he committed several errors because he didn’t know Hebrew codicology and palaeography. The BUB collection derives in large part from the suppression of the convents of San Domenico and San Salvatore of Bologna, ordered by Napoleon in 1802. Napoleon transported the most precious and most important material to the Bibliothèque nationale de France. A Pentateuch scroll when, in 1815, returned in Bologna wasn’t recognized and was exchanged with another sefer mutilated. Mauro Perani identified this scroll and made, in particular, the paleographic analysis of the manuscripts kept in the BUB
