In the present research the internal validity of the Compulsive Buying Scale (Valence et al., 1988) in the Italian context was evaluated. The study was conducted in order to confirm the hypothesis that the CBS consists of a secondorder factor structure (compulsive shopping) that includes the three dimensions originally indicated by Valence and confirmed by Cole and Sherrel later (1995) (first-order factor)
