Aim of PhD project was the development of bioactive systems based on natural compounds (as matrix forming components or as functional ingredients) to achieve tissue reparation. In particular, two different targets were considered: 1) skin: acute wounds with massive bleeding and non-healing cutaneous lesions as chronic wounds and severe burns, 2) heart: myocardial infarction. Chapter 1 of the thesis focuses on the development of hemostatic dressings loaded tranexamic acid (TA) to be used in case of massive bleedings.
