Myostatin exert a key role in inhibiting muscle growth. In this study, a SNP located within a conserved TATA-box like motif of the myostatin (MSTN) gene promoter (GQ183900:g.156T>C) was genotyped in 133 horses of Uruguayan Creole breed. Minor allele (g.156C) frequency was 0.22. Then, we evaluated association between genotypes of the analysed SNP and eight body measurements (wither, rump and chest height; chest and cannon circumference; thorax, body and rump length). Results indicated that this polymorphism was significantly associated (P< 0.05) with wither height of horses of Uruguayan Creole breed
