Aliphatic polyesters, due to their favorable features of biodegradability and biocompatibility, are one of the most important classes of synthetic biodegradable polymers: polycaprolactone, poly(hydroxybutyrate), poly(L-lactide), poly(butylene succinate) (PBS), etc. are nowadays available commercially [1].
