The article discusses the ways in which cultural and postcolonial studies have dealt with capitalism over the last three decades. While in a first phase the contribution of these studies to challenge traditional views of capitalism has been outstanding, the author contends that in recent years capital has rather disappeared from their radars. He consequently makes a "programmatic" case for "bringing capital back in" cultural and postcolonial studies
