This paper describes a possible approach to provide application- awareness capabilities to the transport network infrastructures of the Future Internet. This is achieved by introducing a signalling scheme enabling the application to automatically negotiate with the network the transport resources they require. The signalling workflow is detailed and the scalability of the proposed solution is evaluated through an experimental test-bed
