A liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry method for the quantitative determination of fumonisin FB1, FB2 and their respective hydrolysed metabolites HFB1 and HFB2 in pig liver has been developed and validated. The method was based on an easy extraction procedure followed by SPE purification. Chromatographic separation of the analytes was performed on a C18 column using 0.3% of formic acid in water and acetonitrile as elution solvent. The mass spectrometer operated in the positive electrospray ionisation mode (ESI+) using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM).
