The material flow, and consequently the friction, is investigated by means of visioplasticity techniques, by the insertion of marker rods in the deforming billet. AA6082 billets are deformed at typical extrusion conditions (520°C billet preheating, 5mm/sec ram speed) at three different extrusion ratios The deformed rods pattern of the butt is measured in order to analyze the friction effect.
