Aircraft noise is a paramount issue among air transport stakeholders. If on the one hand the relation between airport and local communities has sometimes been compromised by aircraft noise, on the other hand noise charges or surcharges and noise restrictions could distort the relation between airlines and airports. Aircraft noise management techniques have been developed both at central level and both at local level (i.e. at airport level), for ensuring the acoustical sustainability of airports. As a network industry, air transport is strongly dependent on the capacity of airports, and hence noise can constrain the entire air transport system. This paper analyses a methodology for aircraft noise performance evaluation, applicable for air ...
