The use of different ground glass waste as 25 wt% ordinary Portland cement replacement is reported and discussed with the aim to establish if chemical glass composition plays an effective role in developing pozzolan activity. Physical and mechanical properties of the new binders are reported and compared to those obtained using 100% CEM I 52.5 R. The presence of ions with different mobility in the glass waste appears to have a direct relation with mortar mechanical strength development for the investigated curing time
