Control Methods in PDE-Dynamical Systems

The volume collects selected papers that were presented at the AMS-IMS-SIAM Joint Summer Research Conference on "Control Methods in PDE-Dynamical Systems",.held at the Snowbird Resort, Utah, July 3-7, 2005.This conference was conceived to remain rooted in the topic of controlled PDE systems while reaching out to researcher involved in the study of dynamical properties and asymptotic long-time behavior of PDE-mixed problems. The contributions to this volume involve nonlinear parabolic, as well as hyperbolic, equations and their attractors, aeroelasticity, elastic systems, Euler-Korteweg models, thin-film equations, Schrödinger equations, beam equations, variational principles; etc. In addition, the static topics of Helmholtz equations, and Morrey potentials are also prominently featured. A special component of the present volume focuses on hyperbolic conservation laws, which take advantage of recent major theoretical advances with significant implications also on applied problems.
