Relation between labour and sociodemographic variables, with the manifestations in health in physicians of two institutions of health in Jalisco, Mexico [Relación entre variables sociodemográficas y laborales con las manifestaciones en salud, en médicos de dos instituciones de salud de Jalisco, México]

The burnout syndrome is an answer to chronic labor stress by the risks to which the workers are exposed, being able of bringing long term consequences on its health, prearranging to pathological phenomena. The objective of the study was to analyze the relation between the sociodemographic and labor variables with the damages to the health in the familiar physicians with burnout syndrome, who work in two institutions of health, Jalisco, Mexico. The study is cross-sectional descriptive. Two questionnaires were applied: The scale of Maslach burnout inventory (MBI) and a questionnaire with sociodemographic and labor variables. One hundred and ninety nine familiar physicians were interviewed. Eighty two developed the burnout syndrome, 47% of them presented repercussions in the health. To be a "woman", to have "more than 14 years in the present position" and "more than 16 years of work in the institution" were mainly associated with the gastrointestinal and muscle-skeletal upheavals. The burnout syndrome, as much as the variables in study can facilitate the development of some disease, for that reason is essential to foment preventive strategies and/or of treatment.
