The synchronous generators have a natural different time scale dynamics. That is why for modeling and control design in such systems the methods of singular perturbations are widely used. In this paper a sliding mode observer-based control design for synchronous generators are designed. The proposed controller and observer designs are simple and systematic, and are based on a combination of singular perturbation, block control feedback linearization and sliding mode control techniques. Applicability of the approach is tested via simulations
