[eng] Background: Mortality associated with cardiovascular diseases represents a major public health problem. The intake of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids has been related for decades with a lower incidence of cardiovascular diseases and a lower mortality. Objectives: The general objective is to evaluate the efficacy of the intake of Omega-3 fatty acids in the prevention of cardiovascular disease in a cohort of adults of the Region of Murcia. Other objectives are assessing the secondary effects derived from the intake and the analysis of the levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids in the blood.
