The present work analyses electric power use and consumer habits in educational buildings. We based our study in the University of Guadalajara Architecture Building. Some drawing classrooms were diagnosed in order to propose energy saving alternatives. The purpose was to consider natural lighting conditions for adequate design spaces. Original window proportions used for lighting did not correspond to spatial and visual requirements of classrooms. We suggest reconsidering environmental design elements, extending the surface of windows, implementing architectural elements especially designed for natural lighting both in quantity and quality and using clear colors over wall and ceiling surfaces.
