This paper argues that geography, from its prelude\ua0as a science, is a political knowledge. This work reviews\ua0political geography’s historical background and the variety of\ua0studies that emerged from it in the first half of the 20th century.\ua0It also analyzes the discourse of European and American\ua0imperialism, which linked political geography to geopolitics\ua0– as well as those that did not. The last section proposes\ua0using the concept of space to assess geographical science
