Currently, alcohol intake among students is mainly analyzed\ua0by a psychological approach with a highly epidemiological\ua0perspective. This paper aims to find some sociological determinants\ua0of this phenomenon, with special interest in therole of peer groups. To achieve these goals, a survey was\ua0conducted with nine hundred six students from Puebla. It\ua0was found that alcohol intake is determined by some “hanging\ua0out” that students usually do on weekends. In addition, it\ua0was discovered that these social events are only statistically\ua0related to enjoying the social interactions, regardless of social\ua0pressure (as the main alcohol-study perspective would\ua0suggest).
