In recent years picture theorists and mass media analysts have rediscovered XIX Century art historian Aby Warburg, because of his multidisciplinary approach and powerful conceptual tool called\ua0Pathosformel (emotional formula), which has been useful to analyse movement and gestures of images found in ancient art documents and modern mass media as well. This text applies Pathosformel in three cases to prove the survival of–certain gender codes in contemporary images
